Fountain

I’m sure many viewers were happy that John and Daphne reconnected and their father and daughter bond is back on track. John has definitely come around with his fatherhood instinct even with trusting Toby with his manly decision. One thing that is so nice to see is how much John has improved in sign language. Yes he is still raw and miss many signs filling the void with his own words, but even in a statistics about fathers of deaf kids, most fathers don’t sign, yet we see John struggling but still motivated to learn his daughter language.

Kathryn portrayed the usual protective mom who can’t see her 1st born leave the house and fly on his own. The scenes between Kathryn and Toby about his decision were ones of the touchiest ones in this episode. It is hard to see your kid grow up and leave you, but Kathryn and her big heart did make it happen. One thing it was intriguing was that so far we have been seeing John and Kathryn’s marriage being in some kind of danger; however in this episode it was nice to see their understanding of each other personality. It is always nice to see their bond and commitment as a couple of 20 years together and for the first time this season, it was nice to see John reasoning with Kathryn about her opinion and attitude, she did what she used to do on the other 2 seasons long; she discussed with her husband about her concerns.

When Theresa Ledarski talks to Bay about the reality that is to be expected in the artistic world, is one of my favorite parts. Up to now it seems that Bay had no idea about what she is yet to encounter once she starts her path to become an artist. Theresa gave her a front seat wide view of what it is to be an artist of her category. She showed so much that Bay decision was amazing, keeping the positive attitude and believing in herself was the best message this episode has sent to its viewers. It doesn’t matter which area or field of work you want to get into, believe in yourself and what you can do will always get to where you want to be. Sure it may take long, but never giving up and keeping the positive attitude, like Bay did, is the key to a great life.

As for Emmett, it was great to see Emmett and Daphne friendship talk again. It has been quite a while since they both had a real serious talk. Their friendship is so pure and honest that makes their scene together always a joy for our eyes, especially as they both just sign with no talk. It is always a joy to watch the sign language scenes, it is like they are performing with their whole body, which literally they are. The great part of Emmett suffering on this episode has nothing to do with his love for Bay but the big secret he had to carry about one of his great friends. Thank goodness Daphne supported him because apparently Travis won’t and who knows if he will encounter any other friend who will be against his decision to report Matthew? There is a fine line here, report a crime or support your friend? It was obvious that no matter what he would say, Matthew wouldn’t listen to him, he did his part as a friend to help him, but as we all know, to refuge a criminal is also a crime. Emmett in no way is a criminal and would not become one by hiding the facts. He did what is right; thanks to Daphne he is again clean. Now will Emmett face the wrath of his friends for doing the right thing? That is something we will see as the show progress.
