Production Mistake & Questions: Season 2 Episode 18 - As the Shadows Deepened

For a long time I was asking myself, can a park employee leave work to go see her boyfriend in the army base? OK, the base is about 3 miles away from the park, and maybe she was on her lunch break, but in view that the whole "Deaf Day" event in Maui Theme Park was under her organization, I really cannot understand how Bay was so relaxed (at work) that she could actually take off to go see Ty and question him about his reaction when he saw her and Emmett watching the movie in the park office.

Mentioning the "incident" that caused Ty to storm out of the park (which by the way, if he was supposed to be working, how did he leave base to go to the park and even buy ice-cream cones?) Can you see the bad editing on this part of the scene? Let me show you:
1st- When Ty comes in with the cones, Bay is seating right next to Emmett:
But then when the cut goes to the camera on Emmett to show his face of disgust, we see Bay really closed to the camera, which means she is in a different distance from Emmett, as we know Ty is close to the camera, we assume that Bay is near Ty on this cut.

But guess what, right after this cut, the camera goes back quickly to Bay for her explanation, and look how far she is again from Ty and near Emmett

Bay even start moving toward Ty a little later

positioning herself near Ty and where she was on what we see on the 2nd picture above.

2nd- We know production of all the episodes must be done very fast and it is not an easy thing to do, we also loved to see the actual "Dawn of the Deaf" on screen, but do we really need to see Emmett scratching his itchy ears? Come on editing group, I'm sure you could have made a quick cut between some takes that didn't have this kind of distraction, don't you think?
For those who doesn't know about deaf people, and we see a bunch of jokes from Sean Berdy himself of people who doesn't understand that deaf people can and do live a normal life. Just because someone is deaf it doesn't mean they do not feel their ears itching, they just the hear the noise of their own scratch..that is the only difference between deaf and hearing.

Interview with Matthew Risch (Chip Coto) (w/translations)

Matthew Risch

Twitter: @MatthewRisch_      IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2807339/?ref_=nv_sr_1

1. What do you like most on your role in SAB?

I've always had an affinity towards playing 'the bad guy' which is interesting b/c it's not really at all who i am in life. I think some of the cast members were surprised to find out I'm actually a nice guy. The thing about playing these characters is you have to find the good in them; what made them this way/how were they wronged in their life to make them make such terrible decisions? It's about empathy.

2. What was the biggest challenge you had working at SAB? (either character or personal challenge)

My answer to 1 pretty much sums it up. playing a womanizing republican politician is about the furthest thing from who I am in life.

3. What was the first sign you learned?

Well actually playing the character i did, there was no need for me to learn sign language. But i do know some basic signs

4. What was the first sign you learned?

"nice to meet you"

5. What are your plans for the future?

I finished shooting for HBO's Looking premiering in Jan. It's a wonderful new show I'm really excited about so hopefully it'll get a 2nd season & I'll be working in beautiful SF! My film TEST is playing festivals currently & will be released to theaters in April. Look for it on DVD/Netflix coming in June! I am so proud to have been a part of such a wonderful show. I think SAB has done something pretty remarkable in the way of starting a lot of conversations that no other show has really tackled yet. Not to mention that everyone on it is incredibly kind, generous & talented. It was one of my best work experiences to date. I only hope Chip Coto makes a return and gets to redeem himself!

We would like to THANKS Matthew Risch for his kindness and attention to our page/blog.

We would like to THANKS Matthew Risch for his kindness and attention to our page/blog.

Melody will be on Glee!!

A liitle earlier today, Marlee Mtlin who plays Melody Bledsoe, tweeted this:

Look where I'm working for the next few days - @gleeonfox !!

So, let's expect a nice episode of Glee very soon with (as twitter peeps says:) Emmett's mom.

How nice it is for actors to cross over to another show? As we know one of the new cast of Switched at Birth, Max Adler who will be playing Tank on season 3, was on Glee as well. Zoey Deuch, who played Alicia Sawyer, is on the Vampire Diaries and back when The Lying Game was still airing, Blair Redford, who plays Ty Mendoza, was playing Ethan there too, let's not forget about Stephanie Nogueras who plays Natalie was on Grimm, RJ Mitte who plays Campbell, was on Breaking Bad and Gilles Marini who plays Angelo Sorrento is also on 2 Broken Girls airing right now.

Is this the end of Switched at Birth?

Lizzy Weiss and Paul Stupin, creator and executive producer of SAB are up to a new cable TV show.

Question here is: Will season 3 be the last season for Switched at Birth?

What will the fans do or think about it?

If Switched at Birth is such a big hit for the network with awards winnings and over 2 million average audience per episode, why would the network (ABC Family) not renew the show for another season?

Read more about Lizzy and Paul's new show here:

On a personal note: Lizzy and Paul, we are very happy for you, that just mean you both are amazing producers and storytellers!! Congrats!

TIME Magazine consider Switched at Birth ALL ASL Episode one of the TOP 10 best on 2013

According to TIME, Switched at Birth episode "Uprising" is one of the Best Top 10 Episode to watch on 2013. We couldn't be more proud of the crew and cast running this show, but here is the note, from my opinion: there were 21 Episodes of Switched at Birth each one as great as the other, why did TIME chose the all ASL episode? Because it was unique on mainstream TV no other TV show would make a whole episode with no voice dialogues, it had the best deaf cast ever in one place and one thing no one really talked about, it makes all the viewers really paying attention on the show, the audience cannot miss one subtitle or they would be lost on the storyline..that means, about 2 million people were really concetrated on what the TV was showing..which also can mean, they had to be paying attention on the commercial sponsors..hummm???
